SHANNON GRABS COOL $5,000 PAYDAY IN

RUSS’S NAPA FROSTBITE 250 AT RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY

It was a day for championships and high energy racing at the P.A.S.S. sanctioned Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire, as Luke Shannon grabbed another $5,000 check for winning the Russ’s NAPA, Frostbite 250. Carey Martin won the P.A.S.S. Sportsman 75 lapper and the championship, while Eric Hall won the Dwarf Car feature and the championship, and Andy Simpson knocked off the Cyclone championship title.

The Frostbite 250 started out with 113 cars making the starting grid. The event was a wild and wooly showdown as numerous wild crashes, flips and hard hits caused several red flags to fly throughout the event, but the racing action was just totally out of control til the end. The crowd was on their feet late in race as Charlie Rockwell raced past Luke Shannon in which many thought he was now the leader. Unfortunately for Rockwell he was still one lap down and Shannon carried the checkered flag and $5,000 back to Groveton, New Hampshire. Completing the top ten were Ricky Labrecque, Troy Randall, Lorin Vear,

Jonah Delgenio, Nick Pilotte, Tim Spooner, Jason Wyman and Gerard Cote. After a final tallying of the score sheets, Andy Simpson grabbed the 2009 title for the Jiffy Mart Cyclones.

The P.A.S.S. Sportsman ran their championship event and when it was all said and done, Carey Martin edged out Mike Landry in the 75 lap main event and for the championship title. Clyde Hennessey, Lyman McKeage and Grant Aither rounded out the top five. Hennessey and Dan McKeage grabbed the qualifying rounds.

The Twisted Tea Dwarf Car main event and championship went to Eric Hall. Hall was chased to the stripe by Trevor Roy, Anthony Young, Jim Barker, and Howie Switser. Toby Merchant won the heat race.

Randy Whittum won the final Kids Only Daycare Daredevil youth racers feature. He held off last week’s winner, Dan Benoit Jr., Desirae Sicard, Jarred Ainsworth and Jenna Randall.

That concludes the 2009 racing season at Riverside Speedway. Next event is the 2009 Banquet of Champions. Tickets are available, and order forms can be found on the website at www.riversidespeedway.org. The staff and management would like to thank all the race teams, crew members, families, plus all the sponsors and track employees for one of the greatest seasons ever. See you at the banquet.
