Riverside Speedway General Managers Jean and Jane LeBlanc, recently returned from Daytona Beech Florida, after attending the RPM workshops from February 8th through the 10th. Director of Competition for Riverside Speedway, Doug Shannon, and his wife Roxanne were also in attendance. The workshops included race tracks from all over the United States and covered many areas of concern including the continuous rise of costs in operation, the current economic down turn and its effect on the many short tracks across America, and several other topics of interest. The Groveton management group got to meet several new people, spent some time with several different vendors that were on hand, and were taken to Volosia County Speedway, and took in a night's racing with the World of Outlaws. The highlight of the trip may have been the day spent at Daytona International Speedway, taking in the twin 125 events. Although if you ask Doug Shannon, the highlight of the trip may have been his race on day one during the lunch break at the promoter's workshops. Doug battled other promoters in a 10-lap go-cart race. The workshops and the ability to be able to speak to people from all over the country, allowed us to realize that the way we are currently doing things at Riverside Speedway, is very similar to what many other successful race tracks are doing through out the country.
