PRESS RELEASE
It's mid-season for many local race tracks, and with that, Riverside Speedway
General Managers Jean and Jane LeBlanc couldn't be more excited.
On Friday July 30th and Saturday July 31st, the PASS sanctioned quarter mile
speed plant prepares for one its biggest shows of the season; Summerfest.
On Day 1, The Jake McDowell Memorial 100 takes to the track, with up to 40 of
the finest street stock drivers in the Northeast Kingdom, doing battle in the
second segment of the Bond Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. The race is 100 laps
with the winner pocketing $1000. Time trials for the pole position have been
added to the excitement, with a cool $100 going to the car with the fastest lap
time.
Add to that card the Caron Building Center Daredevils, The Isaacson Structural
Steel Angels, and the North Country Ford Late Models, and your in for one great
night of racing. And when you think all of the excitement is over, out come the
Monster Trucks. Kyle Chandler and his truck "The Dominator", will put on a
display of car crushing, grass ripping, and car jumping that is second to none.
Once the excitement is done on the speedway, you'll be able to rock the night
away at Jean and Jane's Pit Stop located in turn 4. Outlaw/Sportsman driver,
Jourdan Davis, will have his rock group preform from the top of the VIP area
until the mid-night hour.
"We have had an unbelievable first half of the season," stated Riverside General
Manager Jane LeBlanc. "We are getting things ready for Summerfest and plan on
giving our race fans a full weekend of excitement!"
On day 2, The PASS tour rolls onto the speedway property with three of its
racing divisions. The PASS Super Late Models will rocket around the high banked
bull ring, reaching speeds of close to 90 mph in the straight aways for 150
laps. Also on hand will be the PASS Modifieds and the Nelcar Legends. Riverside
Speedway's Budweiser Super stocks and the Jiffy Mart Cyclones will also be in
action.
For the second day in a row, the Monster Trucks will conclude the weekend show
with their second performance.
Just four weeks away, it will be the second running of the Munce's Superior
"Clash of the Titans 150". The list of drivers expected to contest for the $5000
top prize continues to grow. Last years top three finishers have already stated
that they will return, including 2009 winner Wayne Helliwell Jr. Groveton's
Randy Potter and Lancaster's Quinney Welch have marked the calander for the
event.
All of the Riverside Speedway's Late Model drivers will take part in the event,
including front runners Bryan Mason, Russ Clark, and Matt Pepin. Some other
notable Late Model drivers such as Stacey and Tyler Cahoun, and Chris Michaud
are expected to battle for the top prize. The possibility of Oxford 250 winner
Eddie MacDonald, Maine's own Ben Rowe, and the ever popular Tracie Bellerose are
also on the list of possible entrants to this growing event.
This Saturday night July 24th, all of the speedway's divisions are in action,
except for the youth daredevils. It is Dad's 4By Tool and Supply Favorite
Driver's Night. The heat races will line up according to how many votes the
drivers received from their fans and sponsors. The racing action begins at 5:30
p.m., gates open at 4 p.m. You can got to speedway's web site at
www.riversidespeedway.org for all of your up to the minute racing news.
