CARRY RIVERSIDE CHECKERS

It was a day later than scheduled, but once again the racing was red hot at the P.A.S.S. sanctioned Riverside Speedway in Groveton , New Hampshire . The event was scheduled for Friday night, but continuous rain showers forced the event to be put off until Saturday night. S.T. Griswold Concrete was the sponsor of the evening’s events, and they brought some unusual equipment for the fans to check out.

Jonathan Ledger grabbed a hard fought victory in the S.T. Griswold Concrete Outlaw Sportsman division. He held off heavy pressure from runner-up finisher Reggie Theroux and Doug Laleme. Completing the top five were Jean Leblanc and Pete Gilcris. Theroux captured the qualifying win.

James Lambert came from the rear of the seventeen car starting field in the Budweiser Super Stocks, and raced to a convincing win over Jeremy Lacoss. Lambert got the jump on a lap 29 restart and never looked back. Following Lambert and Lacoss were Luke Shannon, David Ofsuryk Jr., and Dan Sidney. Brian Gosselin and Dan Sidney won their respective heats.

Rookie Alex Theroux scored his first career victory in the River Bend RV Street Stock main, as he nipped four time winner, Troy Randall by half a car length. Fourteen year old Tori Delabruere almost stole the show from the pair, but a lapped car closed the hole and she settled for third. Tyler Therrien and Michael Moore rolled home fourth and fifth. Shawn Swallow and Moore scored qualifying victories.

It was a wild finish for the Twisted Tea Dwarf Cars, as Ernie Laplant saw his engine going away with two laps remaining, but sputtered his way into victory lane for the second consecutive time. Nathan Brown made a bonsai charge at the line but fell a few feet short and settled for second. Third through fifth went to Eric Hall, Bobby Riley and Dana Huoppi. Howard Switser won the lone heat.

The Leo Enos Landscaping Riverside Angels ran an extra distance 50 lap main event that turned out to be one of the most exciting races they’ve put on this season. When the checkers flew, it was Jennie Dion nailing down the win. Miranda Gervais, Traci Nelson, Linda Ball and Mary Eastman rounded out the top five.

Dilyn Switser picked up his second win of the season in the Rookie division of the Wildman Auto Daredevils. Cameron Bowen, Kristopher Russell, Curtis Randall and Brendon Hunt chased Switser to the stripe. Cody Hodge continued his winning ways, as he raced home ahead of Kyle Pembroke, Jesse Switser, Brandon Lambert and Brett Gervais.

The biggest event in the history of Riverside Speedway will unfold this coming Friday and Saturday nights, as Miller Lite presents Summerfest 2007. On Friday night the Jake McDowell Memorial Street Stock 100 will be taking place along with Late Models, Super Stocks, Daredevils and Monster Trucks. Post time is 7:30pm . Then on Saturday night the P.A.S.S. Super Late Models will race 150 laps, with the likes of Mike Rowe, Ben Rowe, Dave Dion, Kelly Moore and a host of others taking on the tough quarter mile track. Also on the card will be the P.A.S.S. Mods, STAR Vintage Racers, Outlaw Sportsman, Angels, Dwarf Cars, Cyclones and Monster Trucks. Post time is 5pm .
